Speaking Digital 2023

3rd symposium of PhD candidates in the Digital Culture and Creative Industries program at the Institute of Musicology, Faculty of Arts, Masaryk University.

The speakers will present their research projects in two sections according to the year of enrollment: 1st year doctoral students present their updated research theses with an emphasis on the current state of knowledge in the field of their interests and topicality of set tasks; 2nd year doctoral students focus in their contributions on chosen methodologies, particularly on the rigor, innovation and benefits they bring about to their research goals.

The symposium covers a wide spectrum of current phenomena in digital art, culture, and creative industries, which reflects the diversity of PhD projects conducted within this program. Common features of the presented projects are twofold – it is a focus on highly topical issues of digital culture (for example, the rapid development of artificial intelligence or acute issues of suitable strategies for archiving digital art) and the formulation of research goals in a respect to the needs of cultural industries practice (book market, cultural festivals, application of multimedia in memory institutions etc.).

The conference is held in Czech, Slovak and English.
The speakers will participate in person or with pre-recorded contributions.
